They saw my film, and I went in for an interview. I finished up the program with my 4th year film, which is when Mercury Filmworks came along. I really enjoyed being able to focus entirely on art and drawing, and it solidified for me that animation was what I wanted to do. It was nerve-wracking to apply because a lot of the program’s applicants came from art schools that had helped them with putting together their portfolios. When I applied to Sheridan, I didn’t have any formal training.

When I was in grade 10, I learned that Sheridan College was the top school near me for studying animation. From then on, I was sure it was what I wanted to do. It wasn’t until I got to high school that someone suggested to me that animation might be a good career path for me. When I was a kid, I would draw my favourite characters from animated shows I watched. I’ve always loved drawing, and I’ve been doing it since I could first hold a pencil. Shroud, an animated short by Naomi Edwards Could you start by sharing with us your journey into animation, and your career so far? We caught up with Naomi to learn more about her animation career so far, the inspiration behind Shroud, the Mercury Shorts program, and the process of making her short film. The resulting short follows a protagonist, an air surfer, who has to battle her own doppelgänger in order to survive an incoming storm. Her pitch was accepted, and over the course of a few months, she created Shroud with the support of Mercury. When the program was announced, Naomi pitched a fresh idea for a film that would explore how a person can be their own worst enemy. The program has launched with four shorts, each directed by a Mercury animator: Rebecca Kartzmark, Shane Plante, Melissa Lyn, and Naomi Edwards. The program was launched by Mercury as an initiative that would give their artists an opportunity to work with the studio’s development team to create their own original animated short films. The film was part of an in-house shorts program by Mercury Filmworks a studio located in Ottawa, known for their work on projects which include Kid Cosmic, Centaurworld and Hilda.

THIS WILL EXPORT ALL FRAMES IN SEPERATED IMAGE to be loaded on a video editing software such as adobe premiere.Shroud is a 2D animated short film by Naomi Edwards, which explores the private battles that we face in our minds. I than go to file->export->render network and click ok. There I choose what the filename, export format (mine is PNG) I want to be and click close once I am done. What I do is go into the Network option and go to the "Write" module. Were you able to test your movies on render just fine? If its good but exporting all iffy try this if you use a video editing software.

I get lost from this too and have to note myself whenever I export stuff on toon boom pro because it requires a different method. I even try previewing it as an swf, and it crashes, and this isn't the same for any other project I'm working on its just this one, every other project works fine, and exports fineĬan someone please help me, and tell me if I pushed the wrong button or, if There is somekind of trick or work around, or fix, because I am literally done with everything and the only problem is just exporting. I was expecting the project to render as nothing but black lines against a white background, but it doesn't its just all blackĪlso I tried to export it as an swf, and it crashes the dang program, EVERY TIME. I was trying to keep it simple, by literally having only one layer of nothing but black lines, and no backgrounds or anything.

My Problem is: I wanted to finish up a PSA on smoking, and I decided to make it nothing but black and white, and a cigarette with a orange butt, and thats it I'm really iffy about doing this, but I was wondering if for some reason there were any toon boom animate pro experts that could tell me why my project keeps exporting as black, and why toon boom doesn't want to do anything with swf.
